What is the metal element? In Feng Shui the Metal Element is often used to provide more focus and concentrated effort to manifest thoughts into physical reality. You can add metal elements to the area of the Feng Shui Bagua that has the metal element represented. The areas of the Bagua that can be enhanced by additional metal elements are travel/ helpful people, career, and creativity areas of the Bagua when practicing Western School BTB Feng Shui. If you follow Classical/Compass School Feng Shui you will need the spaces facing and building’s natal chart to determine the best areas for Feng Shui Metal element enhancements.
Here are a few ways you can add or increase metal in your environment when using Feng Shui.

Metal can be used to bring more feelings of focus within a space or used to balance out a environment that has too many earth elements.
- Metal’s message: focus and clarity
- Metal’s color: white, gold, silver, copper, reflective colors
- Metal’s shape: oval, circles, arches, round as when metal contracts, it forms a ball
- Metal objects or material: wrought iron, steel, copper coins, clocks, mechanical items, computers, objects made of metal
- Metal’s texture: smooth, as are the surfaces of metal when formed or heated
- Metal’s smell and taste: acrid, metallic taste
- Metal’s sound: xylophone, piano, uses metal strings to resonate tones
- Creative element is earth (metal is extracted from earth)
- Destructive element is fire (fire melts metal)
- Reducing element is water (water rusts metal)
Some use metal elements to increase feelings of gratification and promote restraint. Metal can also deter feelings of longing, adventure and a need for constant change. Earth supports metal and metal supports the element of water. Fire reduces metal’s strength and metal reduces wood’s strength. The colors of white, grey, silver, bronze, copper, gold and metallic all represent the metal element. If you find that you are overly focused or are tending to analyze things far too much you may not have a proper balance of elements in your space. You may wish to reduce metal’s affects by adding more fire and/or water into your environment. Generalized applications do not always work in an environment that’s why hiring a Feng Shui Expert is vital to your success. If you want to add more metal elements to balance an Feng Shui area. I have listed here a few metal objects you may wish to consider for your space.
Many often use metal cures for the Annual #2 sickness star and a 5/2 flying star combo in a space. Moving metal cures in a room do not have to be Chinese looking. Some like to use pendulum clocks or some hang a brass or copper bell in a room’s door knob if they are experiencing the ill effects of a flying star 5/2 combo or the Annual #2 sickness star in a particular area.
